Overview
A detached traditional Welsh longhouse dating back 300 years, set in a peaceful rural location adjacent to the village chapel. Close to the coast and Pembrokeshire’s golden, sandy beaches offering jaw dropping views of the Celtic Sea and across Strumble Head towards the Preselli mountains. Even on a stormy day many hours can be wasted just staring out at the view!
Bursting with charm and character, think simple pared back interiors with bumpy whitewashed walls, original beams and floor boards upstairs with locally made woollen Welsh blankets and rugs. This delightful detached property was originally built to house a family and its farm animals, long before the chapel that now sits alongside it was built. It later housed the minister for the chapel and in the triple aspect ensuite bedroom the original hooks for the Sunday Schools children’s coats can still be seen.
Upon entering this delightful property, which is crammed with character and a homely feel, guests will immediately feel relaxed and make themselves at home. After a day of adventures exploring beautiful Pembrokeshire relax in the spacious lounge, with its cosy wood burner, kick back on the sofa with a good book or curl up to watch a favourite programme or movie on the Smart TV. A doorway leads to the well-equipped kitchen/diner, with electric oven and hob, microwave, Nespresso machine, fridge/freezer and dishwasher with double aspect windows giving garden and rural views. There is a large wooden table which seats 8. This room used to be the animal’s quarters and you can still see the original beams with tie up rings! There is a utility room with a washing machine which leads to the ground floor shower room with a shower, WC and underfloor heating. The first floor is accessed via cottage stairs from the lounge where there are three bedrooms, a master king-size with an en-suite shower and WC, a second king-size and a king-size zip-and-link (which can be made into 2ft 6′ twin on request at the point of booking), all have lovely rural and sea views. Completing the accommodation is the bathroom with a traditional roll-top bath and WC. Fluffy white towels and luxurious Welsh made “Farmers” bathroom toiletries are supplied and the beds are made up with crisp cotton sheets and Welsh blankets to “cwtch” up beneath. First basket of logs are supplied free
Outside there are gardens, laid to lawn with a patio with garden furniture, and woodland beyond. There is private off-road parking for two cars.
Things you should know
The garden is fenced and dog proof however there may be cows or sheep grazing in the surrounding fields so you must keep your dog under control – a determined dog will jump a fence!
We are situated in a wonderful farming landscape but with that comes sheep baaing, cows mooing and tractors on the lanes – not all at the same time of course! There is plenty of bird and insect life, and the occasional funny smell – welcome to a true rural landscape
The stairs are narrow and quite steep to the first floor
